Manajack Cay (aka Nunjack Cay)

We headed a bit north to Manajack Cay, passing the pretty coastline of Green Turtle Cay on the way.  (We'll go back to Green Turtle later).

At Manajack, we took the dinghy to a large mangrove area.

We were looking for green turtles....and saw 20 or 30 of them!  The only problem was that they are very shy and swim away really, really quickly!

Cool creatures!

Later in the afternoon, we went ashore.  There is a couple that own this section of the island - they are former sailboat cruisers - they welcome us ashore to walk their nice nature trails.

Lots of trail markings -

Neat boardwalk thru the mangroves.

Cool cactus

Great path across the island to the Ocean Beach.  About 1 mile.

Beautiful deserted beach.

Then we took the short walk to "Coconut Tree Beach"....not many coconut trees!

Back to the boat for a relaxing evening.

  1. ...sea turtles are so cool...we saw hatchlings at Topsail one year...they had them all roped off and a path to the water...

    Love,
