Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

I guess today's post will just be about food.....pretty lazy day for us.  I made some bread, read a book....

At the sundown gathering, the crews from 360 & Wabi Sabi brought lionfish sushi to share.  They had found 3 lionfish in the shallows earlier in the day.

 Nicely done!

And later I took out the last of last year's Wahoo steaks from the freezer for fish wraps.

Breaded the steaks with a little panko crumbs.

Shredded the flaky fish.

Added toppings - cilantro paste, sour cream, salsa, ranch dressing and shredded cabbage (remember, I haven't had lettuce for over a month now).....

Served with a rice dish.  Was quite yummy!!

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

Keith and Denise had given me a bag of freeze-dried strawberries.  Amazing that a pound or two of fresh strawberries weighs next-to-nothing!

Popped some in the microwave with water to cook/re-hydrate.  With a spoonful of peanut butter and a spoonful of honey.  Yummy breakfast and the strawberries taste fabulous!

Went for a nice long walk today with Dee from Meshugga and Russ & Carol from Spirit.  My Garmin watch says we walked 4.6 miles and I burned 500 calories in a little over 2 hours.

Dee played photographer for me.

Walking the shoreline, perfect day.

Dee found her "bling" for a night on the town, haha!

Picking up sea glass and other various "treasures" as we walked the shoreline.

Russ and Carol hiking up the rocky hills.

Duane overlooking the salt ponds in the island interior.

Beautiful "Ragged" shoreline.

And beautiful bays.

On the way back, Dee got to try out her Christmas present - a rechargeable handheld chainsaw.

Perfect for easy trail trimming!!

Russ toted a large buoy back to the firepit  area for some added decoration.

And just so you don't think we're all just a bunch of old fogies - we ran into Ryan and Ali from Wabi Sabi on the shore.  She was showing off a beautiful rainbow flip-flop she found in the sand.  She's searching for a match.....good luck with that!

Back to the boats - the normal sundown gathering late in the day although cloudy again so no actual sunset was viewed....

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

Our friends on the trawler Spirit have a webcam!  You can see Sojourn is anchored right in front of them......not a lot going on.

We went for a snorkel, I know, this is sortof like a really cool broken record, isn't it?

Again, the water was just lovely - feels like velvet on your skin since the water temperature is "just right".

We saw a couple of smallish lobsters which we left in place to grow a bit....

Back to the anchorage - the boat count has grown to 7 now - new arrivals 360 and Wabi-Sabi (both boats were here previous years)

The sundown gathering - catching up with the new crews.  And we made preliminary plans for a cookout on New Years Day.

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

Jerry asked early in the morning if we wanted to go snorkeling - the winds seemed calm enough to do some "inside" hunting.

Jerry diving down to check out a lobster hidey-hole.

Just lovely coral...

And one medium-ish lobster.  This one went in the freezer since I don't feel like eating lobster every day!

We had grilled Mahi-mahi for supper - we're watching a few episodes of The Mandalorian each night (a new-ish Star Wars series about a baby Jedi....

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

 Still stuffed from Christmas dinner!!!

We  did chores in the morning, made water and washed all the dirty clothes and linens on board.

Jerry and Donna invited us over to Bluejacket in the afternoon for some card games.

We learned a new one called Pitch then played several rounds of Spades.  Nice breeze with just one little rain sprinkle.

Amazingly quickly, it's time to go ashore for the sunset gathering.   There are 5 boats now in our little clan - Meshugga, Bluejacket, Sojourn, Dragonfly and Spirit.  No sunset visible due to the clouds at the horizon and the no-see-um's ran everyone back to their boats at dusk.

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

I made myself some special grits for Christmas morning - cheese grits with leftover grilled lobster and Impossible sausage crumbles.  Yummy!

Most of the morning was prep for Christmas lunch aboard Meshugga.  I had made a small cheesecake yesterday - I had promised to make dinner rolls.  I got a recipe online for Copycat Kings Hawaiian Rolls and made two batches staggered 20 minutes apart to bake in the small oven.

They turned out nicely.

Everyone gathered on Meshugga.  The parking lot:

First everyone got drinks - Nicholas handed out egg nog.

And then appetizers on the top deck in the gentle breeze.

And then it was on to the main meal - everyone brought wonderful dishes.  Dee had cooked a roast lamb and chicken.

After a wonderful meal, we all waddled up to the top deck again for more conversation and sailing lies.

Wonderful to while away the day with good folks!  No green flash because the skies were too cloudy at sunset.  Great day but no supper was required!

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Island, Bahamas

The calm winds will be ending so we decided to go for one last swim/snorkel for a while.

The coral was just lovely.

Duane got these two very nice lobsters and one smaller one.  I grilled the smaller one for supper and the two larger ones went in the freezer.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas - hope you are keeping warm!
