Raccoon Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

It was time for engine oil changes....while Duane did that I made another banana date/nut bread since I once again had bananas that were too ripe to eat by themselves.

And before I knew it, time to go ashore for sundown.

A pretty one!  So pleasant here all by ourselves.

Just because we can....lovely evening.  Back to Sojourn for dinner and brilliant conversations.....

Raccoon Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

We woke to a beautiful sunrise.....the anchorage was just a bit rolly so we upped anchor and headed just a few miles south to Raccoon Cay.

Within an hour or so, Now & Zen joined us.

There are numerous coral heads near Raccoon Cay so we spent a few hours exploring.

The highlight was this large turtle.

I guess he's so large that he doesn't feel threatened by me - fun to watch him swim.

Back to Sojourn.

We made an impromptu campfire and grilled our supper.

We did not go hungry! The tin-foil packs contained roasted root veggies along with roasted zucchini strips made for a pretty healthy meal too.

And the sunset was just lovely.  Good to be away from the crowds!

Low Water Harbour, Buenavista Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

We went for a nice snorkel - lots of life around - two rays.

One of the rays swimming along.

A little hard to make out from this angle but there is a nurse shark sleeping with several large remoras attached to it.

Some lovely coral.

And a turtle who was not terribly friendly.....

We stopped by and said hello to Chris and Goshia on Solaris.  They had been in Georgetown but are making their way back to Hog Cay.

Other than that, just a beautiful day!

Low Water Harbour, Buenavista Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Another beautiful day!

Leslie and Ralph invited us over for some conch salad at sundown.

Good fun as always.

Pretty sunset but we'll have to wait until we move to see the green flash over the water!

Low Water Harbour, Buenavista Cay, Ragged Islands

Good morning!  Nothing to report today.....had a nice relaxing boat day....just did some chores and reading. Nice to do every once in a while.  Maybe we'll get motivated.....

Low Water Harbour, Buenavista Cay, Ragged Islands

We went out for a snorkel....

The winds were up a bit and the sea was choppy.

So we didn't stay long - just too much work!!

Chris on Dragonfly had sailed into the anchorage so we stopped by his boat for a nice chat and catch-up.

A relaxing afternoon of reading and general laziness.  Pretty sunset.

Low Water Harbour, Buenavista Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

We don't often have any stress down here....but a couple of other boats came into the harbour and provided some.  They are traveling together and apparently wanted to anchor close to one another.  Unfortunately, they decided that our spot was the best spot.  It's a wide open anchorage - no need at all to "bunch up".  They dropped their anchor directly between Sojourn and Now & Zen - so they were about 100' away.  Our reaction was to immediately crank up the engines and move to a completely different spot!  End of stress and actually a nicer spot to anchor with the current/wind.

Now & Zen

And Sojourn

After lunch, Leslie and Ralph stopped by for a chat.  My bread machine had beeped that it was finished just moments before....so they were treated to hot buttered bread on the dinghy while we chatted.

We went for a walk along the shore of Low Water Cay - we'd never done that before for some reason.

Just another pretty shoreline!

My "haul" from the walk!

And in the evening we had a fun dinner on Sojourn with the usual suspects.

Buenavista Cay (Low Water Harbour), Ragged Islands, Bahamas

The "Donkey bananas are turning ripe.  We had one sliced with breakfast.  It's slightly more starchy than normal storebought bananas (Cavendish bananas) but still very nice and sweet.

And the Jujubes are turning ripe as well.  I'll make a chutney out of them when just a few more ripen.

It's lovely here away from all the crowds!

Now & Zen  is here as well.

Out for a snorkel.  Nice to be in the water again.  A little nurse shark was resting in the shadows.

This is a different nurse shark a few minutes later.

The water was fairly clear but a bit chilly with all this north wind!

Do you see little Mr. Lobster peeking out?  This one was too small to take but Duane did get a rather nice one a few minutes early.

Back at the boat there was one more load of clothes/sheets to wash....winds were whipping at about 20 knots in the anchorage so it made for a very fast but very LOUD 15 minutes of drying time!

Leslie and Ralph had us over in the afternoon for catching up and a couple of games of the card game Golf.  Since we'd snacked quite a bit on Now & Zen we had an early night with a salad and another couple of episodes of Atlanta.
