Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Bahamas

We got off the boat for a nice walkabout.  Into the channel on the dinghy.  It's marked "No Wake".  But if you look closely, there is a wake approaching us in the water and a power boat steaming towards us at full speed.  Obviously everyone ignores the No Wake zone.....

Lovely little harbour.

The Spanish Wells area is really a couple of different cays.  St. Georges Cay is what I normally think of as Spanish Wells.  The other island is Russell Island - it is linked with St. Georges via a bridge.

The bridge was damaged and replaced after one of the recent hurricanes.

We tied the dinghy to a telephone pole near the bridge and went for our walk on Russell Island.

Pretty view from the walkway on the bridge.

Russell Island is mostly residential.  Nicely kept grounds for the most part.  No ruins/partially built houses that we passed.

We wandered down to see a dredged out bay.  Looks very protected.

Nice long walk, wouldn't be complete without a goat!

The winds are due to pick up to 20+ constantly for a few days so we'll have to see how mobile we are in the coming week.
