Pretty, calm sunrise.
Nauti-Nauti set sail northbound early in the morning. After breakfast, we set sail southbound. The winds were 10-12 knots but mostly on the nose for southbound travel. So we made an 8 mile tack eastbound out into the ocean to be able to make it into the Hog Cay cut on only sail power.
Lovely day for a sail, just a bit bouncy.
The goal was to catch an edible fish....but only caught barracuda! Exciting to hear that tick, tick, tick from the fishing pole when you've got a "fish-on!".....But a little disappointing when you get him close to the boat and realize it's a barracuda. Often you catch them in relatively shallow waters, but we were in 7000 depth!
We were able to sail all the way around to the anchorage with only sail power so good fun. Here's an unusual view in the Bahamas....an actual navigational aid! There are a few buoys here to help the commercial ships navigate thru the coral heads. The boat you see in at the government dock is a Bahamian Defense Force boat.
Hog Cay has about 20 boats now...I'm sure it will get more busy as the Feb 19th Valentines party grows near. We were a bit lazy after the long sail and didn't feel like a social shore visit so we stayed in - started a new (to us) series on the TV - Broadchurch.
Hey K,
ReplyDelete...we actually have already watched Broadchurch...the first series was too much suspense for me and I watched the ending first...I read or heard somewhere that even the actors did not know 'who done it' because they were afraid just their demeanor would give it away...and I've noticed that is true in mysteries a lot of times you just get a feeling about the who done it from something in the way the actor...well...acts...haha...it was a good series...once I knew the ending...haha...
Love,
