Matthew Town, Great Inagua, Bahamas

As Meshugga sailed north at sunrise, we pulled anchor and headed south back to Matthew Town.  Great sail with 25+ knot winds.  George the dockmaster met us at the dock to help us tie up.  We thought we'd spend the next couple of days at the dock, maybe riding our bikes around town.

After we got settled on the dock I saw Henry and his son walk over to their fishing boat in front of us.  We'd met him 2 years ago down on the south side of Inagua at his bone-fishing lodge.  Fun to see him and he particularly wanted to tell Leslie hello (Leslie and Ralph had visited with him last year as well.)  Fun seeing familiar faces!

We had tied up alongside Lone Star Love and met Greg - amazingly he lived in Oriental just a stones throw from our dock for many years on Broad Creek.  He and his wife Rita sold there house there a few years ago.  Rita was the office manager at Deaton Yacht Service for many years and I recall her from our Glory Days time at the marina.  Small world!!  Chatting with Greg, we both talked about fish we'd caught - and we ended up trading some wahoo for some tuna!  Yay!  Now I have some tuna for sushi!

And on the other side of the dock is a "pirate ship" called Meka II.   I looked them up on Google - and they're from Beaufort, NC!!  What is the probability that three boats with ties to a 15 mile radius would be in the same marina 1000 miles away?  Small world for sure!

We invited Greg from Lone Star Love and Sinbad & Terri from MekaII over for sundowners.

Fun getting to know them (Greg on the left, Terri and Sinbad on the right).  Greg fried up some of the wahoo and some jack he had caught earlier for a fun nibble.

We didn't get around to putting the bikes on the dock - maybe we'll do that tomorrow.....
