Meek's Patch, Eleuthera, Bahamas

The winds shifted in the morning so we pulled anchor and went to the other side of Meek's Patch.  The anchorage was much calmer so I decided it was time to jump in the water and clean the bottom for the first time since haul-out in October of last year.

We'd noticed quite a bit of growth (algae) at the waterline on the shady underside of the boat.

And there was quite a bit of really soft fuzz on the hull, mostly the top 2', and mostly on the shady underside of the boat.  The outside hulls were relatively clean.

I must say, I was a bit disappointed since it's only been 6 months since new paint.....

But I got some tools ready and started scrubbing.

But it only took about 1 1/2 hours to scrub the entire boat - and I'm really, really pleased with the results and how easy it was.  The "fuzz" was incredibly easy to wipe away.  We used Sea Hawk Colorkote brand paint (we were displeased with the previous paint, Pettit SR60 as it allowed a lot of barnacle growth).  This ablative paint is a little "harder" and did not shed noticeable amounts of blue paint as I was scrubbing.  And I found no barnacles!

We had grilled tuna and steak for dinner.  And watched the original Avatar movie in preparation for watching the new one tomorrow night.  Still watching the weather closely to be able to jump back to the US - looks iffy on Thurs/Friday....
