Monteverde/Santa Elena, Costa Rica

We woke up to a beautiful rainbow!  Mists from the surrounding mountains blow down at all times

View from the Airbnb

The main event for the day was a cloud forest hike. We drove about a half hour over mire curvy, steep pothole filled roads to arrive at the Santa Elena Preserve. After paying our entrance fee, we wandered the trails with our bulky ponchos.

Sharon being a bit silly!

Amazingly green!  Clouds/mist kept everything wet.

This bench is being overtaken by the fast growing vegetation

Comfortable temps but soggy!

Huge trees

A few bridges to cross ravines.

Pretty little waterfall

Green, green, everywhere

There is a tall tower for observing the forest from above.  I was not really a fan but braved the climb.

Views from the top

Not a lot of flowering plants on this hike.

We walked about little more than 4 miles for some good exercise.

Nice that the sun was shining as we traveled back down the mountain.

Back at the house for some rest.

We were treated to a beautiful sunset!

And I branched out for the evening meal-  a sandwich with a chickpea patty and avocado. Was delicious!
