Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!  We had our normal low-key morning.

Off to Duncan Town for the island Christmas party.  The winds were still high but the ride over on the dinghy was actually not bad.

Sorry that this photo is into the sun, but it shows the nice channel markers that are now in place for the shallow draft channel to Duncan Town.

Beautiful water!

As we walked up the hill into town, we saw the kids - Seina, Freddy and Mitchell with their Christmas gifts.

They are the sweetest, most polite kids I've encountered!  We chatted with them a bit - they asked if we had boat cards - an of course we do.  They must collect them from the cruisers.

We stopped by the Lost Key Lodge before 1pm - Erika met us there and said the the party started at 3pm!!  Oh well, Maxine had the time wrong....we dropped off the cookies I had made.  Then we just wandered the island a bit as it's been over 1 1/2 years since we've been here.  Stopped at Maxine's house for a nice visit.

The clinic is nearer completion but still in progress after 4 or 5 years!

The school/community center is mostly complete now and in partial operation.

Since the cruiser pot luck was scheduled at 4pm and we had over 1/2 hour dinghy ride back....we couldn't be in two places at one time.  So we headed back to Hog Cay.  Sorry to miss the island party but nice to visit any way.

The channel back to Hog Cay.

Back to Sojourn to pick up items to take to the cruiser hut at 4pm.  I forgot to take a photo of the sushi before serving.  I had frozen water in zip-lock bags to place below the sushi on the serving table, keeping it nice and chilled.

All of the 10 boats in the anchorage were in attendance for a couple of hours of chatting.  (Thanks Dee on Ursa Minor for the photos)

A group shot before everyone got away.
