Oriental, NC

The construction crew arrived around 7:30AM and we had to get the boats off the dock - What If anchored in the creek.  Nice to be moving, even if only for a few hundred feet!!  (Engines and instruments all checked out fine after the long abandonment!)

With our boats out of the way, the crew got right to work.

Fun to watch them work - this crew has been together a long time and it shows.   We had them remove one of the pilings on the Sojourn side of the dock - they'll reuse this one on the What If side of the dock.

Once they were finished on our side of the dock, we moved Sojourn back into the slip and plugged back in to shore power for wonderful air conditioning!

Here they're putting in one of the front pilings for the What If slip.  Amazing how exact they were able to align the piling with such brute force.

Here's a little video of them vibrating the piling into place.

They repositioned the barge many times - the crew working with hand motions and the occasional shout above the engine noise.

And about 3 hours later - What If and Sojourn at rest!

And a treat for after dinner - I scored a 5 pound bag of ripe bananas for $1 at the Piggly Wiggly - so banana pudding it is!!

  1. Hey K,
...so nice to have that finished...and interesting to see them vibrate it into place...I was wondering if it was the hammer type we hear sometimes at the beach...
    Love,
