Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Just after sunrise there was a little shower in the anchorage.  A pretty little rainbow appeared so I climbed up on top to get a better vantage point for a photo.

The rainbow was a bit too wide for my camera....

After breakfast, Jerry told us he was going to go ashore and do some fire pit maintenance.  So we joined him.

The need for maintenance was due to Hurricane Michele earlier in the year.  The strong west waves had battered the existing fire pits.  The "trash" fire pit was basically gone and earlier cruisers had fashioned a new fire pit for trash - which as all well and good but they put it "upwind" of the cruiser hut.

First chore was to move the new "trash" fire pit so that it would be downwind of the cruiser hut in the prevailing easterly winds.

The start of the new "trash" fire pit (used to burn trash, not cooking!)

The crews from New Ambition and Lani joined us - many hands make light work!

Ted and Kim from Lani...

Moving sand, trying to smooth out the exposed rocky terrain.

Jerry and Duane cleaning out the filled-in "cooking" fire pit.

Much nicer and more useful!

Taking a break after setting the cross-ties up on rocks to make a better bench.

Looking pretty functional now!

New "trash" fire pit looking good as well!

Back to the boat - we decided it was time for a change in scenery - off to the cut between the Raggeds.   When we were in Duncan Town yesterday, Myron told us that the mosquito plague had disappeared - so we're hoping we will be mostly bug free in the cut now.  There are some strong westerly winds coming up in the next week so we need to be protected anyway so good timing to change anchorages.

Beautiful water as we motor along.

Jerry and Donna arrive an hour later.  This will be home for a week or two now.
