Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

I got a text from the Captain C mailboat that they would be offloading at 8AM....it was a bouncy ride over to the government dock - exposed to the ocean swell and the east winds.  Louie and Deb had an order to pick up as well and you can see them behind us on their dinghy.

Inside the protected dock, all was calm.  The Captain C and the Bahamas Defense Force boat.

The Captain C is looking particularly good - they had a massive fire more than a year ago and the boat is just now in service after a major refit.

The crew unloaded the refrigerator and freezer boxes for us almost right away.

Cephas (one of the brothers who own the boat) chatting with Louie and Deb.

Dry goods are all shrink wrapped together - loading onto Phichol's truck for transport to town for sorting.

We decided to divide-and-conquer....Louie and Deb took all the cold boxes back to Hog while we took our dinghy over to the town dock to retrieve the dry goods.

Low tide so we were a bit careful....

Pleased to report no mosquitoes ashore - they had been swarming and terrible last week!

The Bahamas Defense Force soldiers transferring fuel from one tank to another.

First load of dry goods being unloaded and sorted for each family that had ordered.  As this is almost a weekly event - it goes off like a well oiled machine!

Our box ended up being on the second load, so we had a good bit of time to mill around.  Chatted most of the time with the crew from Vineto - Doug and Caroline.  Fun folks.

Myron  A.K.A "bird man" came to retrieve his shipment.  Good to chat with him and catch up a bit!

I forgot to get a photo of my "haul"....but nice to see the fridge packed with fresh stuff again!
