Bluff Settlement, Eleuthera, Bahamas

We went into the settlement for a walkabout.  Easy access at the government dock.  We met the Bonds from Skyfall here - they had been out walking their dog Nelly.

Looking back at the anchorage - about 15 boats.

The dinghy landing area looked a little too shallow since were were at high tide and there was 3' tide to fall.

Walking into town - it was larger than I expected for some reason.

It was a mix of neat homes and a few ruins.

But overall, lovely!

It was lunchtime so we stopped in at the Island Style Restaurant.

We met Fortune, the barkeeper and possibly owner.  He was extremely friendly.

We ordered a chicken wing lunch plate and it was delicious!

On a shelf in the restaurant, someone had left their project.....

After lunch we continued our walk towards the grocery store about a mile away.  More neat houses.

Everyone friendly waving and beeping their horns as they drove by us on the roadway. The grocery store was a long way away!!!

But finally it came into view.  Busy place.

But well worth the walk!!  One of the nicest grocery stores we've ever been to in the Bahamas!

On the huge spice aisle.....Michelle pointed out this very silly spice....I couldn't resist - I bought it.  I'll let you know how it goes.....😆😜

Michelle and Jim after finishing their shopping.

The guy at the checkout counter had actually chatted with us and offered us a ride back to the dock....almost wished I had taken him up on it!!

A few ruined houses or buildings but most everything was in good shape.

Back to the government dock after a lovely afternoon.

Looking back to the anchorage.

The bonds loading back up - more complicated with a dog!

A couple more boats have come into the anchorage in the last few hours - the east winds are increasing so the normal anchorages are not as comfortable.

Here is my $30 haul - not bad!  This is probably the last fresh food we'll buy since we can not take anything fresh back to the U.S.

Closeup of the spice....😁
