We stripped everything off the deck for the strong winds including the bikes. The Sunbrella bags that I made for them several years ago are showing a bit of age (and insufficient design!). The kickstand on one of the bags has rubbed a whole in the bag. In hindsight - I should have lined the bags with some heavy sailcloth - which I'll do this summer....
While we had the bikes in the cockpit, I made a sturdy patch - Phifertex for the inside and matching Sunbrella for the outside.
Sewed the patch inside where it will contact the kickstand.
Back installed on the rail.
With the winds still strong and shifting north, we wanted to move our anchor a bit to keep us farther from shore. Imagine our surprise when we pulled up this log twisted on the anchor chain.
Duane couldn't dislodge it from the boat so he grabbed his snorkel gear. It's still blowing 25 knots gusting to 30 so not fun...
Once he got it dislodged, Jeff from Meriwether came over and helped him tie a line to the log to drag it away. Jeff tied the line to our bow cleat to hold the log in place.
Then Duane got in our dinghy and pulled the log away. We couldn't just leave it on bottom because we were now in about 4.8' of water - I couldn't power forward for fear of hitting the log lying on the seabed with the props.
Duane towing the log to shore.
Jeff and Duane pulled the log up past the high tide mark on shore to keep it from bothering anyone else!!
Soon the skies cleared up and we had a decent rest of the day!
We had off and on showers - pretty little rainbow.
And Now & Zen invited the crews from Maranantha, Meriwether and Sojourn over for happy hour.
And another shower gave us a fresh water rinse on our way back to the boat!

Nice job with the log - poor Duane, bet that was a cold snorkel. Glad it did not cause issues, or you didn't have to deal with it at night.
