York, England

We started the day using the city wall as a walkway again, just easier than dealing with intersections and lots of foot traffic.

The Grand Hotel, cool building

The main attraction for the day was the National Railway Museum. It’s adjacent to the train station and is extremely well done.

We spent a couple of hours just wandering through

Some had steps allowing you to see inside.

Bullet train from Japan.

This one allowed you to go inside and sit down. “The good old days” of the 1960’s

They had a huge warehouse of other “train stuff” that people had donated. Mind boggling how many model trains!!!

We particularly enjoyed an exhibit explaining how the signaling worked before the days of radios and telephones.

That was it for the museum. Very nicely done.

Walking around a few more parks and areas we hadn’t seen.  We’ve about covered all we want to see in York.  A nice looking narrow boat was interesting.  This one looked brand new, odd because they usually look “vintage”.

Back thru the train station for a fairly early night.

One last time eating dinner at the pub, very crowded with the “after race” very smartly dressed crowd.
