First up for the day was the V&A Museum. It’s a huge Applied’s arts museum named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Just saying, but Duane’s sister Sharon would have spent days here looking at all the textiles!
Lots of cool religious paintings and various artwork as well
I think they advertise 7 miles of exhibits I believe them. We have several other museums on the agenda so couldn’t see it all.
Next up was the nearby Natural History Museum. Beautiful building!
But it was crazy crowded with school kids. So much that we couldn’t stand it!!
So we made for an early lunch at a grocery shop.
Walking there was quite pleasant with more pretty cool buildings.
I just can’t abide the crazy prices for restaurant food. £20 for a basic fish and chips - over $25 US! So for £5 I got this combo consumed on a sunny street side park bench….
I would like to comment on this oddity on a Coke bottle in the UK…see the little “connector “ between the bottle and the cap? I understand it helps you keep up the the cap, but it also interferes with the drinking experience. I think I’d vote against if asked!
One more museum on the list for the day more cool buildings on the way
The Science museum….luckily, I think most of the kiddos had to return to school so was not terribly crowded.
Your typical museum maybe aimed more at school kids but still was interesting with lots of info particularly about Watts and his steam engines. Including this photo of the worlds oldest steam train engine as I think my brother Keith and bro-in-law Tommy would both enjoy this one.
More cool buildings.
I know I’m a bit redundant….but the buildings really are cool
And they’re just everywhere!!!
Last on the list for the day was to visit Kensington Park. Entrance with another gilt statue.
A lovely open greenway park
Near the Kensington Palace, the Round Pond. The palace itself was undergoing renovation and didn’t look too interesting
Again, lots of locals enjoying the pleasant weather
Pretty fountains too.
But at just 17000 steps today on the Fitbit….we’re ready for some relaxing. (Guy next to me on the subway apparently thought so too as he was snoring!)
Wow, really getting a load of steps in each day. Beautiful buildings.
