Isle of Skye, Scotland

In keeping with my breakfast photo sharing, the offering this morning was a wonderful smoked haddock poached in milk. Really, I'm not much of a breakfast person but I've really enjoyed them at this B&B.

Plans for the day included a few more hikes. This was the start of the 4 mile round trip to the top of Ben Tianavaig, a small mountain near Portree. The instructions on the hiking website said to find the red post box" hen nearby is a sign that says "hill trail".  All was as expected.

Starting the 2 mile hike, views of the small harbor.  Note the tide as its falling and will look different as we descend in a couple of hours.

Open trail...lots of sheep evidence.

As we ascended, the clouds were hit and miss.  We had a brief 5minute) storm - we both got out our umbrellas and simply squatted down pointing towards the rain/wind.  We got a little wet but glad it passed quickly.

Pretty much climbing the entire route. Note the cylindrical marker at the crest.

It was really windy!!!

Views back to Portree in the distance.

Coastline view.

Beautiful scenery.

As we descend the tide has been going out. Large tide here.

Copy of photo from start of the hike showing tide mark

Little village at the entrance to the walk.

Back into Portree, we wanted to hike the Scorrybrec circuit close to town.  It's just a 2 mile hike - 2 routes...we chose the one that goes to the top, of course. Views back to Portree were fabulous.

Sheep, of course, haha.

Note the fish farms at the base of the outcropping.

View back towards Ben Tianavaig. The red arrow points to the cylindrical marker we hiked to a couple of hours before.

View of the Old Man of Storr at the top right of the photo.

Closer shot of the fish farms.

After yet another soaking rain....it was time to call it a day.  Some of the pretty colored houses we could see from the hilltop.

Just 20,000 steps today!

Back at the B&B, a local kid was practicing his bagpipes on the lawn.  Very cool!

We plan to take a leisurely drive along Loch Ness tomorrow on our way back to Inverness. Then a train ride to Glasgow in the evening.
