Cardiff, Wales

On the agenda today was to take a train up into one of the Welsh valleys just to see it.  It cost less than £5 each way. Just mostly pretty countryside

Our destination was Ebbw Vale Town at the end of an hour long train ride.  The little town was quaint.

Old houses were the norm.

We had one hour before the return train arrived so we got some take-out lunch.

The trip back to Cardiff was actually more scenic as the right dide of the train had more visibility for some reason.

I think the majority of folks live within a stones throw of a railway!

And it appears they all reside in multi- family units. We saw almost no stand-alone housing.

Several of the stopover towns looked cool with lots of old buildings.

Back to Cardiff Centre station.

And a few more hours of wandering in Cardiff.

We stopped at the National Museum… a few interesting displays. I believe this one was a Renoir.

And I apologize in advance…..in a totally different section of the museum was this silly painting titled something like “Nudists in the Park”….zoom in for a good laugh.

The museum was filled with lots of good stuff otherwise!

More walking…getting cloudy and threatening rain.

A Palestine protest at a government building….

And I think this was City Hall….

Last order of the day was a couple of pints….

I had this pub on the list of things to visit because it’s the oldest one in Cardiff. Yesterday with the rugby game in town, it was packed to the gills. Today we were about the only ones there. So a nice pleasant visit.
