I know, I'm getting a bit remiss in updating here....
I'm staying at my sweet brother & sis-in-law's place. In Mills River, there is an abundance of albino squirrels. Unfortunately, they love to eat the bird seed on the deck....

We had a few hours to kill today so we decided to take a little hike in the Dupont State Forest. Strangely, growing up here we had never visited the park. Miles and miles of trails.

We hiked about 2 1/2 miles on the loop trail to a couple of waterfalls. It was overcast and misty - keeping the crowds away.

It looks like that river and fall would be a kick to play in, sliding on the rocks and floating the river. Can't believe this was not a go to place as a kid. Beautiful area.

ReplyDeleteHey Kris & Dean - there was actually a Dupont manufacturing facility nearby when I was growing up - Dupont owned all the adjoining 100's of acres of forest land. When this facility was shut down, Dupont donated the entire forest to the government. Trails have been made over the last many, many years but were not there when I was growing up.
