Pittsboro, NC

Now for something completely different!!!  The “rub rail” on the Avion camper that we installed years ago has basically failed. Just poor quality because it really hasn’t been in the sun a huge amount. Any “outdoor product” should hold up better than this!  It faded and became brittle, some of it actually broke away.

Now don’t focus on the chalky residue on the outside of the camper. That easily cleans up, I just haven’t washed it in a year or so….

On an Avion forum I’d read about using the tough strapping you see on nice pool lounge chairs.  They make it in a wide variety of colors!

It’s really stiff, so they also suggested using hot water to help the insertion process.  We thought this would be a good use for my new Sous Vide heater in a cooler full of hot water  worked perfectly to keep the strapping flexible for easier insertion

Duane did all the inserting while I kept the warm strapping fed to him on a rolling cart.

Looks fabulous now!  I understand this stuff will still be brite orange in 20 years.
