Double-Breasted Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

It's been a while since we bought fresh veggies.  I used the last of the "sprouted" potatoes to make a nice salad.  (I've been making potato salad with both white and sweet potatoes with good success.)  The last of the fresh fennel Jenny shared with me from Long Island made it very tasty.

But now the cupboard is pretty bare!  I only have a few carrots, 1/2 head of cabbage and some garlic left fresh.  No worries, we certainly won't starve with canned/dried goods.  But we will likely be back at Ragged Island in the next few days and will see what Maxine has in stock at her store.

It's not all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows....brief showers in the morning.

But after about an hour of threatening skies (just a sprinkle of rain, really), the clouds moved on.

And soon it was another beautiful day!

Time for a walkabout. There are a couple of trails on the island leading to the rough east shoreline.

A previous cruiser had done a commentary of the state of the shoreline using all flotsam shoes/flip-flops.

Crashing waves with the strong easterlies.

Then a trail took us back over the island towards the anchorage.  Walking thru a mushy but almost dry salt flat.

Looking back at the anchorage from the other direction.

We re-traced our steps across the saltflat to the northern side of the island.

And stopped for a selfie.

And back to the dinghy - about 2.5 miles total walking.

Back to Sojourn - hard to believe that's the same sky from this morning!

Forgot to mention that we had excellent luck with collecting sea glass!

There was a Bahamas Defense Force boat patrolling near the anchorage and then later a Coast Guard helicopter flew by a couple of times.  Not sure if there was actual activity they were monitoring or if it was just an exercise.  Nice to know they're around though.
