Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

The day started out grey and rainy….

But, as common, the skies eventually cleared.  We made a loaf of bread and washed 2 loads of clothes.....

After lunch we went in for a walk. Over the hill on the "Bernie" trail.

Beautiful ocean side views.....the waves were a bit angry with fairly strong east winds.

At one point we could have taken a fairly short trail back to the other side of the cay....but I opted for the longer route following the rocky shoreline all the way to the end of Hog Cay.....I had forgotten how long this trek is!

Beautiful but I was tuckered an hour or so later!

In the distance on the trail we saw Jerry!  We walked the rest of the way back to the cruiser hut with him.

Back to the cruiser hut.....we decided to shower and relax for the evening rather than go in for sundowners.

Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

With a blustery day in store, we opted for a nice long walk instead of snorkeling.

Up on the cliff, the view back to the anchorage.

 Beautiful views from the trail.

When we cut this trail 3 or 4 years ago, we marked it with pieces of green fishing netting that we had scavenged from the shoreline.  A concerned cruiser has removed all of those markings and replaced them with conch shells.  It's actually quite nice.

The "Conch" trail intersects with the "Creepy Baby Doll" trail....there are some remnants of the dolls, but most have been blown away by the recent hurricane, I suppose.  We spent a good bit of time trimming the overgrowth on this trail - it needs some more attention though.

We did a nice long circuit of the northern end of Hog Cay.  I put my phone in my backpack because we had several rain showers crop up....no photos of the ocean side today.

Several boats have come/gone at Hog Cay over the last few days.  There are two boats now with small children.  One from Canada with one little girl and one from Israel with 3 children!!  The kids are well behaved and cheerful

A nice sunset gathering but no real visible sunset or green flash.

Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Nothing spectacular to report today…. There was a swell from the side in the Anchorage. It’s not dangerous or anything, just makes it a little uncomfortable. Duane did his magic with the side bridle, pulling the bow of the boat into the waves. Made the boat much more comfortable.

Jerry and Donna came over in the afternoon for a nice game of Spades. I made several bidding mistakes…Donna was my partner and I Caused us to have several setbacks.  Good fun though!

Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Yesterday while playing games on Bluejacket, the subject of haircuts came up.  Donna said she would be willing to cut my hair...so we met on shore armed with clippers and scissors in the morning.

My hair had gotten a bit fuzzy since October when it was last cut.  It's too hot and the longer hair gets in my snorkel mask, making it leak sometimes if I'm not careful.

Donna did a great job, sculpting it nice and short.

All done - time to get back to the boats.....

Looks lovely but the winds and swells were out of the northwest making it pretty difficult to get the dinghies launched.  (We are very seldom pointed west in this anchorage).

Back on the boat, showered to get all the itchy hair trimmings off.  So nice to have a light head again!  Thanks Donna!

Hog Cay, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

We decided it was a good day to sail over to Hog Cay with fairly strong winds to push us along.

Nice sail with no engines, tacking a couple of times right into the anchorage.

Jerry And Donna invited us over to Bluejacket for a few hours in the afternoon. Was fun to play a couple of rounds on their board game called 99.

We joined Jerry And Donna in the cruiser hut for a nice chat at sundown. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and no green flash.

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

The day started off very dreary and rainy.

After lunch, the skies cleared enough for us to take a nice walk along the shoreline of Little Ragged.

Silly but fun. Lots more little piggies on the shoreline.

The winds are still pretty high, the shoreline was very active and beautiful!

We made it all the way to the south end of the island and walked the southern trail that we had helped trim several years ago  it is in need of another group effort to keep it clear.

We will probably head back north to Hog soon for a change in scenery.

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Nothing much happening here, just a breezy overcast day.

Our American flag is holding up pretty well. But it does take a lot of abuse flapping constantly in the wind. I have a spare, so will replace it when he gets ratty.

Little Ragged Cut, Ragged Islands, Bahamas

Kindof a mundane day.....I'm running low on my bread-mix packages so put several more together.  This time I'm not including the yeast since that didn't work.

Did some laundry....strong breeze makes drying a snap.

I may have mentioned this gadget before....it allows me to hang up a couple of dozen small items without having to put out lots of clothes pins.  Really handy for undies!!!  (I'm airing "clean" laundry, not "dirty" laundry, haha).

And time for another loaf of bread....this one had a bit too much yeast, I believe as it overflowed the pan in the breadmaker.

With strong west winds, we did go out for a snorkel on the outside reef that we don't see too often.  Almost all the boats had dinghies out - we stopped to chat with Darcey and Michelle a bit.

No cool photos - the coral is not too pretty out there and not many varieties of fish were found.

I made a lentil soup using my last butternut squash brought from home - that's a long time to keep a vegetable on the counter!

In case anyone is looking for a series to watch - here are a few that we've watched lately:

Squid Game 1-3 - this one is tough to watch, not for the faint of heart!

Landman

Righteous Gemstones

Twin Peaks - we never watched this in the 90's! Weird and zany

Murdoch Mysteries - good clean fun - makes up morally for all of the others above!! 😃
