Isle of Skye, Scotland

I was intrigued by the  breakfast offering of "vegan haggis"...it was tasty, a grainy mix with spices.  I've never had the real thing so don't really know how it compares.

We knew that we would have typical Scottish weather conditions for the day...fog and rain.  But we were prepared with jackets and umbrellas to make the most of it.

Driving along the one lane roads was a bit of a pain but in the end works pretty well.

First stop of the day was the Fairy pools.  Very popular spot....

It's really just a mountain stream with lovely pools.

But it is quite lovely and long!  We walked 2 miles with this scenery at every turn.

The obligatory sheep photo.

We were pretty soggy and chilly at this point. Nice to get back in the car for about an hour to head northwest to see the Neist Point lighthouse.

A good bit of fog along the way.  A lonely sailboat. Not as many boats around as I would have figured since there us so much coastline!

The Neist Point lighthouse is on the other side of this Foggy peninsula. I was afraid it wouldn't be very visible but the fog lifted some as we walked over.

The lighthouse is still operating  but is electric and remotely managed.

Beautiful though!

Note the sheep at the top right corner.

Interesting terrain where the sheep have made paths on the hill.

An old stone fence as we departed the lighthouse.

Just some photos as we drove around the countryside.

And the last stop was going to be Dunvegan Castle but we decided that it looked a bit too modern and touristy so we gave it a pass.  Fun day but we were still a bit soggy....

  1. In the Bahamas it is goat photos - nice to have a change of pace and see sheep. By the way, I don't think those are sheep paths on the hills, think they are terracettes. Beautiful scenery - even if foggy and rainy - seems like the normal weather

  2. Beautiful. I did not realize that the Fairy Pools carry on for such a long river stretch.
And still waiting for photos of Heiland Coos.

...really pretty again...such clear water in the pools...and I hope you're staying well away from all those cliffs...
